Happy Birthday!!

The guys (JR, Papa G, Bob, and Big A) were having a "work day" on the farm last weekend since the new barn needed to be wired for electricity.  JR's Birthday was near the end of September, so we all decided to get together, while the guys were here, and celebrate. And EAT!  Mama T baked the cake and I put a pork roast in the crock pot and made baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, and a new recipe I found for a cheesy macaroni, apple, sausage dish.  It was delicious!!

Wow! Four generations!  And all of us wearing our "work" clothes.  Beware - If you ever visit our farm you will most likely be put to work! Wear old shoes, old clothes and forget about fixing your hair! (When JR says...."Hey, come on down to the barn for a minute and lets look at the bulldozer (or whatever)", you know your clothes are going to get dirty!!  "Barn minutes" usually equal HOURS!)

But all work and no play does not a happy farmer make.  So, after a morning of hard work, JR and Wee Bob took time out for a reading break!

The guys ate lunch and rested for an hour (A normal hour - not a "barn hour".  That would have equaled a whole day!).  Big A checked his phone for any important messages he might have missed.  When you are almost fourteen, ALL messages are important!

Wee Bob got to try his hand again at basketball.

YEA!!  Two points!!!

When the big guys went back to work ,the "kids" decided to go for a short four wheeler ride......

Because the mud puddles were just to tempting to be ignored!

That's  our donkey "Pluto".  He likes to stare at four-wheelers.  He used to be gray but now has turned almost completely white.  Pluto is about 26 years old.  And being around cattle for most of his life......well, he thinks he is a cow!  Or maybe that should be a bull.  Yes, definitely a bull, Pluto being of the male species. (I think that makes sense???)

Eventually all the "kids" returned to the house and we proceeded to clean up our lunch mess.  I packed up the leftovers and sent tomorrow's supper home with  Mama T and Pooh.  JR and I still had plenty of food left to feed us for the next two days - maybe three.  I just LOVE to have a big family dinner and then not have to think about fixing food for several days. The men folks continued to work until early evening.  Meanwhile........ we ladies went to our respective homes, took bubble baths, manicured our nails, creamed our faces, colored our hair, and read romance novels!    Oh, what a marvelous farm life we live!!
(P.S. In my dreams!!)
